Background

Deb grew up on Long Island in a middle-class community with her parents and 2 sisters. Her family was very connected to their community- her mother served on their library’s board or trustees and her father raised money for their synagogue. She grew up in a house filled with books and the expectation that she would go to college after high school. After getting her BA in Art and her MA in education, Deb became a popular art teacher the local high school while raising her children with her now ex-husband. She took her kids to practically every library event when they were little. Books have always been an important part of Deb’s life- provding solace during her divorce and inspiration for her myriad creative projects. Deb now lives alone but her involvement in quilting, gardening, and book clubs means she is rarely lonely.
